Managing Attorney. LeAnn Bischoff is a University of California School of Law alumna (Boalt Hall ’92) who has practiced law in California for over 25 years. She is a Certified Family Law Specialist, and a co-chair of the Alameda County Family Law Association (“ACFLA”). She has extensive experience in all aspects of family law, including divorce (80% of her practice), marital/premarital agreements, child custody, child support, spousal support, business valuation, forensic accounting, asset tracing, property characterization and division, and restraining orders. LeAnn resolves most marital dissolution cases without costly trials, since the vast majority of family law disputes can be managed via strong advocacy, either in mediation or via attorney-to-attorney negotiations. When it is beneficial or necessary, however, she litigates, and she has successfully handled hundreds of hearings and trials within the public and private court systems, primarily in and around Alameda and Contra Costa counties.
Having worked as a business lawyer and civil litigator in San Francisco, a child dependency trial and appellate lawyer, and a federal Indian law attorney focusing on child welfare before she founded her practice in 2005, LeAnn brought a wide variety of skills and sensibilities into the field of family law. She selects and serves her clients carefully, with a strong preference for representing reasonable, big-hearted individuals with good communication skills. For child custody disputes, she prefers parents who are able and willing to recognize and put their children’s best interests first, whatever that entails. On financial matters, she listens to a client’s goals and concerns and carefully works toward a solution that is cost-effective, utilizing whatever path toward resolution her client agrees best suits the case. LeAnn is experienced in finding and retaining local financial, real estate, child advocacy and other experts, and she has earned their respect. She and her staff recognize that each client has unique needs, means, goals and timetables, and that attorneys need to be accessible to their clients with phone calls and emails returned the same day whenever possible. Attorney services are costly and a burden for most budgets, so she and her staff work closely with clients to ensure that their individualized case plans include the very highest quality work at a reasonable cost.
LeAnn is licensed to practice law in California (on active status) as well as Minnesota (on inactive status), and she is a member of the American Bar Association, the Alameda County Bar Association, the Family Law Section of the California Bar, and the current co-chair of ACFLA, along with her colleague and fellow family law attorney Trina Chatterjee. She has been a Certified Family Law Specialist since 2013.
